One aspect that distinguishes most roleplaying games from the world in which we live is that the presence of the Divine is remarkably unsubtle. When magic is everywhere and miracles performed daily, how does that affect the religions of these fantastical worlds? What does it mean to believe when the myths are demonstrably true, and the Gods are manifest in the world? And what does this have to do with the Heroes of the story? Are they pawns in the hands of omnipotent Gods? Defiant and self-important apostates? Something in between? What does it mean to be a Hero in a such a world, and how does one Roleplay a Divine Being? Professional Game Master Jim Deeley has wrestled with all these questions and more in over twenty years behind the screen, and will share his insights into them with you.
(Mythology and Religion factor in nearly every story, and creatives throughout history have been inspired by them. This panel is of use to all creatives.)
